Assessment of the Degree of Coronary Stenosis Based on Forensic Pathological Autopsy

چکیده
Aims: The purpose of this project was to determine the percentage of the lumen area to the whole vessel area of normal coronary and stenotic coronary in humans at postmortem, to compare the difference between the value of measurement to coronary samples and slices, and finally to provide a reference for assessing the coronary stenosis severity. Methods and Results: Image Analyze software was used to measure the circumference of 82 human normal coronary artery samples, and then the percentage of the lumen area to the whole vessel area was calculated. Total 134 human coronary artery samples and slices were imaged using camera and microscope. The lumen area sizes were measured using Motic Imanges Advanced 3.2 software, yield RS1 and RS2. The percentage of the lumen area to the whole vessel area of normal coronary artery is 52.1%±3.3%. There were obviously differences between RS1 and RS2. Conclusions: The percentage of lumen area to the whole vessel area could be measured and calculated exactly using image analysis software, which can avoid the variability inherent in subjective estimates. The lumen area sizes of coronary slices measured with the image analyze software overestimated that of coronary samples by 7.9%±5.8 %.

Background: Epidemiological studies have suggested an association between higher body iron stores and coronary artery disease. It is believed that inflammation and oxidation are important mechanisms involved in the complex pathological process of atherogenesis. Free radical production is catalyzed and accelerated in the presence of iron. The determination of plasma ferritin levels is a convenie...

Background & Objectives: Respiratory, central nervous system, and skin complications of mustard gas toxicity have previously been studied; however, the liver and kidney side effects due to this intoxication have not been fully noted. We aimed to evaluate the frequency of liver, kidney and lung lesions in mustard gas-exposed Iranian veterans who had been exposed to the toxin almost 2 decades bef...
متن کاملPrevalence of Atherosclerotic Plaques in Autopsy Cases with Noncardiac Death
Background and Objective: Ischemic heart disease (IHD) following atherosclerosis is the most common cause of cardiac deaths world wide. We aimed to investigate the pathologic features of atherosclerosis in non cardiac death cases to have an estimate of atherosclerosis prevalence in Mashad (North east of Iran). Patients and Methods : This descriptive (cross sectional) study was done, during ...
متن کاملNon-invasive estimation of cardiac wall stress by using tissue doppler-echocardiography ultrasound images: People with coronary artery stenosis
In this study, a method for non-invasive estimation of stress on the heart wall in the diastole phase is presented using ultrasound echocardiography and tissue Doppler imaging. The aim of this study was to evaluate the stress on the heart wall as a pre-diagnosis to identify people with coronary artery stenosis. 29 patients with stenosis of more than 70%, 30 patients with stenosis of 50 to 7...
